How Salvation Works
What is salvation?
Salvation is the deliverance from danger and suffering.
What are we saved from?
Our sin separates us from a Holy God (Romans 3:23) and the consequence of our sin is death (Romans 6:23). Salvation is that which saves us from the just wrath of God upon sin in this world (Romans 5:9).
Who does the saving?
Only God has the true power to offer salvation and deliver us from the penatly of sin (2 Timothy 1:9). Salvation is not based on our good works, but by God's grace alone (Titus 3:5); therefore, we cannot save ourselves.
How does God save?
God offers us salvation through His Son Jesus Christ (John 3:17). God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross to shed His own blood for our sin (Ephesians 1:7) and was resurrected to achieve our salvation. The Bible is very clear that salvation is based upon God's grace alone and is an undeserved gift from God (Ephesians 2:5;8).
How do we received God's salvation?
Salvation is received by those who put their faith in God's Son, Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Salvation can come in no other way (John 14:6), but by grace along through faith along in Jesus Christ along (Ephesians 2:8-9). We must hear the Gospel - the good news of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:13), then believe upon the Lord Jesus (Romans 1:16). Then involves repentance, a turning away from sin.
